Our Holiday Program runs throughout October, November and December. We want our clients and their families to share in the joy of the season without risking their financial security. Everyone deserves the opportunity to join with their neighbors and make lasting memories during this special time.
Thanksgiving Services
We serve more than 1,000 hearty Thanksgiving meals across community centers, senior centers and to our home-bound Mobile Meals recipients. All are prepared with love through donated foods and volunteer support.
Holiday Food Distributions
Samaritan House holds two week-long distributions, one in November and one in December, so that our clients and their families can enjoy delicious food to celebrate the Holidays. Everything we give out is a donated item.
Family Sharing
Through our Family Sharing Program, low-income families from San Mateo County are matched with donors, who assist them for the December holidays. These donors provide client families with personalized holiday food and gifts. Donors are able to select the size of the family household they wish to donate to and are welcome to help more than one to spread the holiday spirit.
Drives
There are many ways to support our Holiday Program efforts this time of year, including running a drive with your community or corporate group. We accept food, new toys, new coats, and more. Please email [email protected] or see the links below for more information
Halloween Costumes for Kids
As trick-or-treating is a part of any childhood, we have made it our mission during the month of October to provide new costumes to low-income families free of charge through our Halloween Costume Drives. If interested in donating nearly new or brand-new costumes, please email [email protected]
3,270 Families were served last year, including 5,624 youth & teens. These numbers reflect a 31% increase in need compared to the previous year.
